SOS Total Safety Solution

SOS offers a comprehensive program which combines thorough inspections with operator training to ensure safety both behind the controls and in front.

Legislation and Standards - Compliance:

  • Occupational Health and Safety Act R.R.O. 1990, Section 51(1)
  • CAN/CSA-B167-96 Safety Standard for Maintenance and Inspections of Overhead Cranes, Gantry Cranes, Monorails, Hoists, Trolleys

Proper preventative maintenance increases the reliability of equipment performance. The SOS Total Safety Solution – using our defect history database, combined with inspections and repairs, and carried out by our qualified crane specialists – reduces the number of safety-related faults while increasing the reliability of the equipment. By specifying qualification requirements and training the operators, safety is enormously improved (crane operator errors are at the root of 73% of all crane accidents).

Studies show that with the implementation of a thorough program such as the SOS Total Safety Solution, equipment maintenance costs were reduced by 28-56%, and the equipment failures were reduced by 50-83%. As well, safety incidents have been reduced by 65-95%.

Operator Safety Training

As part of the SOS Total Safety Solution, we also offer crane operator safety training at a reduced rate for our inspection customers. As noted above, crane operator training not only reduces safety-related accidents but also improves the reliability of the equipment. Why? Improper use, as with all pieces of equipment (think of your car), creates undue wear and stress on parts that were not built to be used in this manner. As well, employer liability issues with regards to safety make the need for operator training even more pressing. With this in mind, we developed the SOS Total Safety Solution.
